Here's an interesting article from the New York Times about young people now resemble the generation that grew up during the depression. History moves in cycles. Our values are changing . .
I have to say, this financial crisis is an event that is far more shocking and far-reaching than 9/11. At least for me, it is changing everything about what I understood the world to be. I am only 30 years old, and to be told by the generation before mine that they have no idea why the world is falling apart . . is a little scary. It's the system they built, and now it is crumbling before our very eyes. And to see the way previously materialistic people are suddenly doing an about-face and rejecting the life they used to live . . it makes me angry as well.
Because they may be about to retire but the rest of us are stuck with the situation. For who knows how long? Well, let's see it as an opportunity to change things . . is all I can say.
