The city walls near the entrance. Saint Malo is one of the major cities in Brittany, the northwestern province of France. With a celtic culture strongly tied to Great Britain, this area was independent from the rest of France for a long time. Even now, there are still people who try to preserve the indigenous Breton language. And of course, the music survives, which sounds very similar to traditional Irish music.

The billboards on the shops and bars are not particularly well-drawn, as you can see from this photo of a sandwich shop. You should see the one of this guy holding a hamburger--it's even worse. But yes--it does have a certain charm to it.

A street view within the walled city at Saint Malo. This part of the city is encircled by gigantic stone walls and sits right on the water. Inside, all the buildings are made of stone, and there are many creperies, pubs, and various other shops. Brittany is known for its cider, crepes, and seafood (mussels and oysters). You can find any number of shops selling these items within the walled city.

Saint Malo is a city on the northern coast of Brittany in France. The beach stretches out below the stone walkway. When the tide is high, the water crashes up against the walls and spills over onto the walkway. If you happen to be caught at the wrong time, you can be drenched or even worse pulled into the sea. It is not the friendliest-looking beach in the world but it is very beautiful in a mysterious way.
